Youth in Crisis Policy
Christian Education Committee reviewed the Pathways for Guiding Youth at UELC. The committee felt the written policy was somewhat confusing and in turn submitted their version of Youth in Crisis Policy.
The following motion was made:
Ed Caulkins moved that the Pathways for Guiding Youth at UELC be amended by substituting it with Youth in Crisis Policy. The motion was seconded by Linda Sell. Motion carried.
“Draft” will be removed from the top of the document and the adoption date be added at the end.
Stephen Ministries
Sandy asked where Council stands on the Stephen Ministries program. Pastor Moore stated that Melissa Metzger will do a Temple Talk during the upcoming worship services to inform the congregation and to see if anyone would be interested in participating. He also gave a brief description on the program.
The Stephen Series is a complete system for training and organizing lay people to provide one-to-one Christian care to hurting people in and around the congregation. The Stephen Series provides congregations with the structure, training, and resources to set up and minister a complete system for lay caring ministry in the congregation. In Stephen Ministry congregations, lay caregivers provide one-to-one Christian care to the bereaved, hospitalized, terminally ill, separated, divorced, unemployed, relocated, and others facing a crisis or life challenge. Stephen Ministries helps pastors and congregations provide quality caring ministry for as long as people need it.
