EYG:

  • May 2nd: Family Movie Night – “Hotel for Dogs”.  Kids made dog treats  & donated to Peaceable Kingdom
  • May 16th: Nature theme hosted by David & Kandy Lang.  Kids made a pine cone craft and had a scavenger hunt.
  • June 27th: End of Year party/picnic for EYG youth and their families.  Water games, activities, food and giving to others.  Each child to bring a canned good or other non-perishable food item to donation to the Lehigh Valley Food Bank.

JYG:

  • June 26th: Mini Golf at Bear Rock Junction following car wash.
  • July: Dutch Springs trip – date TBD
  • August: Pool Party/Picnic at Orchard View Swim Club – date TBD
  • Motion to approve use of funds from General Account to cover summer JYG activities, if necessary.  Lisa/2nd Tracey. <Motion Carried>.
  • Discussion of stopping meetings after Confirmation is complete due to low attendance.  Christian Education is discussing this idea for Sunday School as well.

SYG:

  • May 12th: DevoDine hosted by the Lafferty Family.
  • June 30th DevoDine 6:30 – 8:00p: at Panera Bread in Whitehall.  Youth are reminded to bring money for their meal.
  • June:  End of Year/Beginning of Summer Pool Party at Orchard View.  Details to follow soon.
  • July: Drive In Night – date TBD

Family & Youth:

  • April 25 – Cafe Karaoke Night 7-9:00p, Good turnout.  Possibly schedule another in 2-3 months.

Youthworks Harrisburg Trip:

  • Upcoming meetings:
    • 7/18 12:00-2:00pm – All Attendees – 2 hours to accommodate June mtg.
      • Lisa will give diabetic talk at 7/18 meeting
      • Parents need to be present at meeting at 1:30pm
    • There is one spot open for a youth due to a cancellation.

New Orleans Youth Gathering:

  • May 2nd: Session was held for Youth & Parents who have voiced interest in attending.

Fundraising events:

  • Total income from recent Fundraisers: Italian Dinner – $2,411.00; Five Below – $78.52; Friendly’s – $149.50
  • Five Below – Lisa received a request to repeat this fundraiser.  Will run July to December, with reimbursement bi-monthly.
  • Annual Blue Mountain Candle Sale – November 7th and 14th on sale in the Gathering Space.  Cheryl Kosar volunteered to supervise this event.  Candles will also be available at the Basket Social as cash & carry items (no orders will be taken at the Basket Social).
  • Carwash – June 26th 10am-2pm: Harrisburg attendees must attend, however, volunteering is open to all JYG and SYG Youth who are able to help.
    • All attendees are requested to bring a baked good, pre-packaged in 50 cent bags.
    • Prices: $8.00 per car; $10.00 per truck/van/SUV
  • Basket Social – planned for end of October.

Other Business:

  • Youth Advisor Training – Rich in the process of discussion the program for training of youth advisors with the NE Synod.  Plan for training session to take place at ULC by NE Synod staff in Fall 2010.
  • Youth & Family Ministry Strategic Plan – In the fall of 2010 the Youth & Family Ministry Strategic Plan will be reviewed and tactical plans with be reviewed.  A temple talk will be given on “What is Youth & Family Ministry?”  Youth will be an integral part of the presentation.
  • Melissa needs Committee Representative coverage at the September 26th New Member Reception.

  • Next Meeting: Monday, August 9th at 7:30pm.  Note: this is the SECOND Monday of the month due to the Harrisburg trip.
