Christian Education

Learning is a life-long process. Union Lutheran Church offers a range of educational opportunities for all ages. Each child at his or her Baptism becomes a member of our Family of Faith. At that time they are registered on our Cradle Roll, a program that provides parents and young children with timely messages about faith development. When the child becomes 3 years old, he or she is invited to join our Sunday Church School family. A parent and me class is offered for children who are age 2-3 years old. A parent must accompany each child.

Weekly Christian Education through our Sunday Church School is scheduled on Sunday from 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. during the school year. The children’s monetary offerings are used to support ministries outside the church that they choose. Recent outreach efforts have included: The Heifer Project, adoption of two children via Children International, Seeing Eye Dog Program, Greiss Mountain Ranch, Lehigh Valley Humane Society, Northern Lehigh Food Bank, on Eagles Wings, L.W.R. School Kids, ELCA World Hunger. At least 2 adult education opportunities are offered weekly.

A Senior High Discussion Group is held weekly for 9th – 12th grades. 7th and 8th grade students are involved in our two-year Catechetical Program that meets at various times throughout the year. Students are usually confirmed on Pentecost of the eighth grade year. First Communion Classes are held each year during Lent. There are three sessions that are held weekly. These classes are open to children who are in 1st grade or older.

Each summer Union Lutheran Church offers a community Vacation Bible School for children age 3 through 6th grade. This is a fun-filled, week-long offering with stories, songs, games, and crafts.

The Library is available for use by everyone. Both children’s and adult selections are available to be borrowed. Selections are cataloged via computer.

ULC’s Book Club meets on a regular basis throughout the year to discuss books chosen by the participants.
